What We Believe
Olathe First Assembly of God is an affiliate of the Assemblies of God located in Springfield, Missouri. Our District headquarters is located in Wichita, Kansas. We believe in the four cardinal doctrines of the Assemblies of God. The first one is Salvation – Romans 10:9-10; Jesus Christ died that we might experience a new birth (spiritually), through the forgiveness of sin, faith in God and His Son, and committing our life to Him, we have salvation. Everyone can be reconciled to God, and have eternal life.
Divine Healing – 1 Peter 2:24; We believe that when we pray, God hears us, and when we reach out to Him in faith, God has promised to bring healing not only spiritually but physically as well. The Bible tells us to call on the elders of the church, that they laying hands on the sick, praying the prayer of faith, they shall be healed. Healing is not dispensational, Jesus said,” greater things shall you do because I go to the Father.”
Baptism of the Holy Spirit - Acts 2:1-4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6; The Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, is available to every believer. Peter affirmed this as he spoke on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:38-39). Paul encouraged the Corinthian church by saying that (1 Corinthians 14:8) he spoke in tongues more than anyone in the Corinthian church. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not just about speaking a heavenly language. Jesus said it was necessary to give His disciples power to witness all over the world (Acts 1:8). If Jesus says we need to be empowered to witness and live an overcoming Christian life, we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit
Second Coming of Jesus Christ – We believe in the physical second coming of Jesus Christ. The angels at His ascension proclaimed it. (Acts 1:10-11) Paul declares it to the church at Thesslanica (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Throughout the New Testament Christ’s second coming is declared many times more than His first Advent. He is coming and Revelation declares that He will come to rule the nations. The most important declaration is made by Paul when He tells that Jesus is coming to those who love His appearing.
